The Gurusiddappa Kotambri Law College was established in the year 1974 as an evening college to cater especially to the needs of the people of this region who were very keen in enhancing their law awareness. The establishment of the law college was made possible due to the munificent donation of philanthropist Dr. T. M. Kousali, and the college was named after his genitive father Gurusiddappa Kotambri.
This college has approval from Government of Karnataka. Permanent affiliation is granted by Karnataka University. Bar Council of India, New Delhi has also granted its Recognition (vide registration No BCI/LE/GKLC/KU/15/2002) to this college. Over and above the University Grant Commission New Delhi, has also recognized this college for its assistance, under Sec. 2(f) and 12 (B).The college has been accredited with B++ Grade by NAAC. In continuation of efforts, the college has introduced five years LL.B. integrated programme, certificate courses in cyber laws and communicative skills in English, in order to fall in line with the leading legal institutions of the country.
